Zero Waste Shawl (English) – PDF

Zero Waste Shawl is written to use up almost all the yarn.
The pattern is suitable for different yarn weights – use those lonely skeins in you stash and/or some leftovers. Work the stripes as written or adjust the pattern to your own preferences and the yarn you are using.
The gauge is not crucial, but the weight of the yarn will affect the size of the finished shawl.

SIZE: Adaptable to the amount of the yarn you wish to use. See examples below.

GAUGE: 20 stitches & 23 ridges = 10 cm in garter stitch, worked with yarn 320m/100g on 4 mm (US 6) needles. The gauge is not crucial in this project.

YARN: Wool yarn (non-superwash), approx. 300–500m/100g, for example Tant Kofta Färgspel (175m/50g), Rauma Finull (175m/50g), Knitting for Olive Merino (250m/50g), Sandnes Sunday (235m/50g) or any other fingering, sport or DK yarn.
Suggested amount: C1: 100g, C2–C6: approx. 25g each. See some examples below.

NEEDLES: 3–4 mm (US 2.5–6) circular needles 120–150 cm (47-60”). Choose a needle size that works well with your yarn.

NOTIONS: Tapestry needle, kitchen scale (optional).

The large one (grey/green): Tant Kofta Färgspel, 175m/50g. Total: 256g.
C1 (grey): 95g., C2 (yellow): 28g., C3 (light green): 28g.,
C4 (dark green): 23g., C5 (brown): 28g., C6 (light grey): 54g.
Needles: 3.5 mm (US 4). Finished size: length 250 cm, height 57 cm.

Medium (beige/pink): Rosy Green Wool Merino (hand dyed), 320m/100g. Total: 225g. C1 (beige): 100g., C2–6 (pink gradient): 25g each.
Needles: 4 mm (US 6). Finished size: length 185 cm, height 46 cm.

Small (grey): Manduzana Duo, 400m/100g. Total: 99g.
Needles: 3 mm (US 2.5). Finished size: length 125 cm, height 30 cm.

CONSTRUCTION
The shawl is worked from one of the corners, on the bias, which gives a stretchy and comfortable piece to wrap around your neck. It has a slightly asymmetrical, triangular shape and looks nice from both sides. The ratio of the triangle is the same, regardless the size.
